FAQ’S

Can I bring food to the OJF? Oakland Jazz Festival attendees will be able to bring in food to the event. Pack a picnic (with permissible items) and enjoy a beautiful day at the Oakland Jazz Festival. Please review our festival guidelines for more details.

Where can I purchase OJF tickets? You can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster online, any outlet or Kiosk and by phone at 800.745.3000. You can also purchase tickets at the Paramount Theatre Box without service charge.

Will there be tickets sold the day of the show? We will sell tickets the day of the event unless tickets are sold out prior to the event.

Day-of-show tickets will be slightly higher at the event box office.

What do you get with Reserved Seats? Reserved seats are closest to the stage. You have access to a VIP bar and cocktail service. Additionally you have a special entrance and conveniently located restrooms.

Are there discounts for kids? Everyone entering the festival grounds require a ticket for admission. No babies in arms.

When can I pick up Will Call tickets? If you purchased tickets through Ticketmaster online you can pick them up at the Paramount Theatre Box Office after 48 hours. Any purchased tickets not picked up by Friday, July 31, 2015 by 3:00pm. Unclaimed tickets after this date will be available at the OJF box office the day of the show at the Will Call window. The On-site Box Office will open at 9:00am the day of the show.

What do I need to do to be able to pick up my wristbands? All Patrons who purchase VIP Tables will also need a wristband to identify their access to the VIP area. You can pick up your wristband at the VIP Access Table upon entry to the event.

When do the gates open to go into the festival? Doors open at 10:00 a.m. for all patrons and Parking lots open at 9:00am.

What’s the best time to arrive? The best time to arrive for OJF is early!

Will Alcohol be served at the Festival? Yes. You must be of legal drinking age (21+) and process a festival issued wristband. In order to obtain a wristband you present a government issued photo I.D. If you are caught drinking without a wristband you will be removed from the festival grounds.

What if I lose or break my wristband? Wristbands are issued per person and are not to be shared. If you lose or damage your wristband it will not be replaced and you will lose those privileges.

Will I be searched upon entry to the festival? For the safety of all OJF patrons all of your belongings brought into the festival will be searched.

How do I get to the festival? Driving directions to the Cal State Eastbay Campus are available on this site (directions) though we do encourage you to use public transportation. AC Transit has a bus that goes directly to the Cal State Eastbay Campus. Also there is a free shuttle from the Hayward BART station to the campus.

Where can I park my car at the festival? There is parking on site for $10.00 per car and $20.00 per car for premium parking (limited) as well as limited Handicap parking. There will be Free Shuttle service to the event grounds. There will be signs posted to direct you to parking lots.

What can I bring to the festival? A low back chair, blanket, food, still camera (no video), sunscreen, and cash/ATM/Debit/Credit Cards. Please visit our Guidelines page for more details. Umbrellas and high-back chairs must be placed on the perimeter of the seating area (courtesy rule – if you are blocking someone’s view, you may be asked to move). What should I leave at home? Please do not bring the following items: professional cameras, pets, audio or video recording equipment, canopies and tents. All seating (except Gold and VIP) is lawn seating… bring a blanket or low-back beach chair. Umbrellas and high-back chairs must be placed on the perimeter of the seating area

What are considered professional cameras and professional digital cameras? Any camera with a removable lense(s) and high speed shooting capability.

I am a Press who do I arrange a photo pass through? You may submit all press requests to Oaklandjazzfestival@aol.com and note in the subject line “Press Request”. All approved press will receive notification 1 week prior to event and press credentials will be available for pick up the day of the event at Will Call. Photo I.D. is required.

Is re-entry allowed at the festival? There is No Re-entry into the festival.

Is there an on-site Box Office and Will Call? Yes, our Box Office and Will Call are located at the main entrance. If you are purchasing tickets at the festival please bring a proper form of payment (Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card) and if you are picking up tickets during the festival please bring proper photo ID.

What forms of payment are accepted at OJF? We accept the following payment methods at the festival: cash, Debit cards and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.)

Are there ATM machines at the festival? There will be ATM machines at the festival look for the signs.

Will I be able to buy food and drinks at the festival? Yes we will have Food Vendors, Cold Drinks, and Cocktail Bars throughout the Festival grounds. Our vendors are encouraged to serve their menu items on plates and containers made from compostable, biodegradable materials. Beverages of all types will be available for purchase including: beer, wine, cocktails, water and non-alcoholic beverages.

Are there vendors at the festival? Yes, there are both Food and Art vendor booths located throughout the festival grounds!

Are there restrooms at festival grounds? There are several restrooms and hand washing stations located throughout the festival grounds as well as ADA facilities.

Will there be First-Aid on site? Yes, there will be First-Aid tent located on the Festival grounds. The First-Aid banner will note this tent.

Is there a Lost & Found? The Lost & Found booth is located at the Information Booth.

Is there security on-site? Security will be stationed throughout the festival grounds as well as a security booth.

Does the festival offer disability assistance? The festival grounds are wheelchair accessible, but please be aware that this is a large venue with great distances between stages. In addition, it is an outdoor music festival situated in a park. Therefore, most travel is over natural terrain.
ADA parking will be available (spaces are limited). These spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying state-issued (any state) disability placards or license plates. Accessible restrooms will be located throughout the concert site. Service animals trained to assist disabled persons will be allowed into the festival.

Does OJF donate to charities? Our official non-profit partner is East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC).

What if it rains? The festival is Rain or Shine, artists and times are subject to change without notice, no refunds.

How do I become an OJF Sponsor or Vendor? We are so thankful to all the supporters of The Oakland Jazz Festival, whether it is a Sponsor, Vendor, or music fan. Vendors can get an application.
